Not too late to join a netball team.

With Sign-on date past, Arana Netball Club is now conducting selection trials over the first couple of weeks of February. Once players are then organised into teams, to make the best combinations to field balanced and competitive teams, they will meet coaches and training will commence. Based on current registrations, Arana Netball can still accommodate more players to complete the number of teams being formed. This applies to prospective players from 8 years (born 2010) to Opens.

So it is not too late to sign on to play this year – email the Club arananetballclub@gmail.com or phone the President, Jenna, on 0404 132 007. Although registrations are on-line this year, players should not be discouraged by this – just make contact and you will be assisted. Such playing enquiries should be made as soon as possible, as later sign-ons will be accepted only in age groups where numbers are still low once teams have been organised. Uniform enquiries can be made to Kym, Uniform Convenor, on 0407 038 913.

With Downey Park fixtures commencing late this year, on Saturday 21st April, after the Easter school holidays, teams will have several weeks of training to work with team mates and coaches, to be prepared when games start. For non-competitive teams, Nippers and 10 Yrs, there is also the chance for extra practice with the Pine Rivers Modified carnival scheduled for Sunday 18th March, (at Bray Park.)

Throughout the off-season, and now that selection trials are underway for the new season, the Committee meets monthly and works constantly to ensure the smooth running of the Club. Two positions remain unfilled at this point, Assistant Treasurer and Publicity Officer. If a senior player or a parent is interested in taking on one of these roles, which will take pressure off other Committee members, please contact the Club or come along to the next meeting, on Monday 19th February, at 7.30pm, in the Arana Sports meeting room at the Hills District Community Centre, Dawson Parade, Arana Hills.
