With the new year, comes the time to sign on to play winter sport. With the popularity of women’s netball, it is now the time to register to play with Arana Netball Club. Players from 8 years (born 2010) to Opens are catered for, in a friendly and family-orientated environment.
This year’s registration for all age groups is on-line – see www.arananetballclub.com.au for full details, and with any queries email the club at email@example.com, or phone Jenna, the President, on 0404 132 007.
Arana Netball fees for this year are $280.00 for the first player in a family, reducing to $260.00for subsequent dependent family members up to 18 years. Fees have been kept at last year’s prices, with main uniform prices actually being reduced. With on-line registration, payment options are available, and uniforms can also be ordered and purchased.
Club sign-on is on Monday 24th January, 2018, at the storage shed at the club’s netball training courts in Leslie Patrick Park, Arana Hills, (off Olearia Street West.) Parking is also available off Patricks Road. At Sign-on night, from 5.30 to 7.30pm, Committee members will be available to assist with queries about sign-on, registration, payments, and uniforms. Not all players will need to come to sign-on on the 24th if successfully registered on-line, and if payment and uniforms have been dealt with successfully. Details about trials early in February will be notified to all registered players.
The State Government again has Get Started vouchers available to eligible players. Families need to have a QGrants account set up in advance – if registered previously the account needs only to be logged into again. The grants have a value of $150.00 to be used towards registration fees to play sport. The next round of grants opens on 24th January, and as they often go quickly, people are reminded to apply in the first couple of days. See www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/getinthegame/getstarted/apply.
Arana Netball had seven young players trial for QCNA 11year olds pre-rep. squad/ teams. These girls all acquitted themselves well, having just moved from playing to modified rules in the 2017 winter season. Four of the Arana girls moved into the selected squad – Romie Barnard, Sienna Bannister, Lana Robertson, and Hana Funaishi. Congratulations to these girls on their achievement. (Romie and Lana have played with Arana from 8 years old, while Lana and Sienna were new to club netball last year.)
In order to provide the means for players to partake in club netball, and to nurture young players as above, a Committee of volunteers is vital to all clubs. Arana Netball Club meetings are on the third Monday of each month, at the Arana Sports meeting room, in the Hills District Community Centre, Dawson Parade, Arana Hills, starting at 7.30pm. As well as Committee members, attendance and support from parents and senior players is always needed and welcome. The next meeting is on Monday 15th January.
