The Hills Organic Community Garden – Get Involved!

Ever wondered what The Hills Organic Community Garden is all about? Here’s a bit of information from the Garden. Get involved today by contacting them on the details below!

➢ We have been at 416 Bunya Rd Bunya (beside the off-leash dog park) 450 metres south of the dump entrance towards Bunya) for over 3 years now. Our first Open Day was in March 2014. We are now on to our 6th Open Day which will be on Sunday 24 September. We have 2 speakers this time. Our first workshop is at 12.30 with Thierry Le Pers on the topic of integrated planting and pest management ; Our 2nd speaker at 2.30 is our local well known gardener Phil Ryan who will be talking about planting and developing seeds and cuttings successfully. Participants will be able to do their own planting of seeds. Phil will be selling some of his products on the day. A Gold coin donation for each participant will be appreciated.

➢ We will have some produce from our gardens for people to see and sample. There will be some home-made jams, relishes cakes and drinks for sale.

➢ Our garden has grown significantly since its beginning. We now have 6 wicking beds (donated by Bunnings) 10 other garden beds, compost bays, several trellises, and lots more.

➢ Our goal is to “To provide opportunities where all interested people from the Hills districts can come together to grow fresh food, to learn, relax and make new friends.”

➢ We welcome new members and enjoy having children attend our working days on every 2nd Sunday at times that vary according to the season. We learn and share the pleasures of growing and sharing our produce. There will be an activity for children to plant seedlings in our new bath tub gardens.

➢ We have 1 or 2 garden beds for rental if anybody is interested.

➢ We are in the process of some interesting upgrading after receiving a grant from MBRC and some recent fund raising activities.

➢ We continue to develop our garden and welcome participation of our members for ideas for our future development .
