Why Learn To Act?

Kids Acting & Theatre Zone (KATZ) was established in 2016 to provide children with the opportunity to learn new skills that will benefit them throughout their life.

‘The acting industry is fierce; there are many actors but few roles,’ said KATZ owner Trevor Jones.

‘The skills we teach can transfer to your children’s everyday life. Current thinking is that a child needs to plan for four career changes, so, they need to be more adaptable than ever before.’

Trevor, has been part of the industry for over 40 years performing professionally on stage, TV, film and in his own radio show on community radio. He also has university and post graduate qualifications in accounting and auditing. ‘Acting’ he says, ‘challenges us to explore our creativity by harnessing our imagination, improves verbal and nonverbal communications, develops self-confidence by making us assess situations, think outside the box and to be more confident going into unfamiliar situations.

These and more skills acting provides, are what I believe, our children are going to need for their futures. This is what inspires me to teach and forms part of the vision of what I offer in my classes to young, aspiring actors.’

KATZ endeavours to keep their fees within the family’s budget and offering the first lesson for free with no obligation to continue.
